Sens. Ossoff & Warnock recommended Geraghty to President Biden
Washington, D.C. –– Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed the second of U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock’s nominees for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia with bipartisan support.
Sarah Geraghty will join Victoria Marie Calvert, who was confirmed last week, on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
President Biden accepted Sen. Ossoff and Sen. Rev. Warnock’s recommendations and nominated Geraghty and Calvert to serve on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in September.
“Pleased to announce the Senate has confirmed Sarah Geraghty to serve as a Federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Senator Reverend Warnock and I recommended Ms. Geraghty for this Federal judgeship, and I appreciate President Biden’s confidence in our recommendation,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I wish her and her family the best upon her confirmation.”
“I’m glad my colleagues joined me in confirming Sarah Geraghty to be United States District Judge for Georgian’s Northern District. Her qualifications are impeccable and as a career civil rights attorney, Ms. Geraghty’s decades of working to seek justice for the people of Georgia will serve her well in this role. I am proud to have supported her nomination and confirmation,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.
In March of 2021, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock formed a historic Federal Nominations Advisory Commission to review applicants for open Federal judicial, U.S. Attorney, and U.S. Marshall positions in Georgia.
Geraghty also received bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this year.
