Letter From Senator Ossoff

Dear Reader,

As Georgia’s U.S. Senator, I strive to serve our State with excellence, humility, and a relentless focus on results.

Here are some of the results I secured for Georgia in my second year in office:

I’ve relentlessly championed Georgia’s economic development, delivering resources all over Georgia provided by the historic bipartisan infrastructure legislation passed in 2021. I’ve secured resources for an unprecedented expansion of broadband internet access; upgraded ports, airports, roads, bridges, and water infrastructure statewide; and authored and passed legislation to attract thousands of advanced manufacturing jobs to Georgia.

Focused on improving the lives of Georgia’s servicemembers and military families, I led an eight-month bipartisan investigation of their mistreatment in privatized housing on U.S. military bases. I also passed into law upgrades to child development centers for military families and barracks for enlisted personnel, while fighting for and securing the largest servicemember pay raise in 20 years.

I worked across the aisle to pass landmark legislation strengthening health care for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, wrote and passed bipartisan legislation to expand veterans’ access to mental health care, and cut through government red tape to help thousands of Georgia veterans access the benefits they’ve earned.

Every day, I am focused on Georgia families’ safety and health, especially the health of newborn babies, young children, and expecting mothers. I’ve upgraded and strengthened health care facilities across the State, funded law enforcement and mental health services, passed bipartisan legislation into law to address the opioid epidemic, capped the cost of insulin for seniors at $35 a month, and passed bipartisan legislation to protect our kids from online exploitation.

Defending and pursuing the promise of equal justice for all, I passed into law bipartisan legislation to investigate unsolved lynchings and Civil Rights-era murders; and led unprecedented Senate oversight of corruption and abuse in prisons and jails.

I’ve led hard-hitting bipartisan investigations that exposed the sexual assault and medical abuse of women in U.S. Federal custody; corruption and misconduct in the Federal prison system; and mistreatment of military families.

My team and I have provided highly responsive constituent services to thousands of Georgians, helping seniors access Medicare and Social Security, ensuring veterans receive their benefits, solving passport and visa problems for constituents, and more.

We are here to help however we can.

— Senator Jon Ossoff

Veterans, Servicemembers, and Military Families

Our constituent services representatives helped seven families at Ft. Gordon living in substandard living conditions get rehoused to safer homes.

Small Businesses

Our office assisted small business owners in Georgia with receiving $8,883,900 in loan funding awards through Federal inquiries with the Small Business Administration.

Social Security

A constituent submitted a privacy release form to our office because husband passed away seven months earlier, and she was checking the status of widow’s benefits for which she applied at the time. Within the month, our casework team was able to get the Social Security Administration to notify the constituent that she was entitled to widow’s benefits beginning five months earlier. She would receive almost $11,000 in owed payments.

Employment & Labor

Our team helped a man facing homelessness get in contact with USDOL for training that would help him find gainful employment after USDOL failed to return any of his correspondence.

Taxes and IRS

A noncommissioned Army officer and his wife, stationed in Georgia, reached out to our office for help receiving their 2021 tax refund. They were not able to reach the IRS and resolve their tax issues. Our constituent services representative submitted the inquiry to the Taxpayer Advocate Service, and the couple informed us that they received their refund of nearly $10,000, including interest. They thanked Senator Ossoff and our office for the assistance and stated that their family is now more financially stable and can enjoy the holidays.
