Sen. Ossoff Delivering Public Safety Upgrades to Allentown

Allentown, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering public safety improvements to Allentown, Georgia.

Sen. Ossoff successfully secured bipartisan support in Congress to help the city build a new fire station, ensuring their firefighters have the equipment and resources necessary to uphold the health and safety of the community.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering resources to support the city’s ongoing efforts.

Allentown’s current fire station, which is more than 45 years old, does not contain any areas for firefighters to eat, sleep, or wash off carcinogens they may have encountered during calls.

The Allentown Fire Department is an all-volunteer department serving the Four County area of Wilkinson, Laurens, Twiggs and Bleckley Counties.

“There is no worse nightmare than the smell of smoke and the fire alarm at 1 am without timely fire rescue available,” Sen. Ossoff said. “Allentown’s amazing volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line every day, and I’m delivering these resources for a new Allentown fire station to ensure timely response when Allentown families need it.”

“With the help of Senator Ossoff, a small city with a good fire department will now be a great fire department with the remodeling and building onto our present fire station to add sleeping quarters and rest room facilities,” said Allentown Mayor Robert Davidson.

“The team at the Allentown Fire Department provide excellent services to the communities in our Four County area, and they deserve space to unwind after their calls or get rid of any chemicals they encounter on the job,” Kenneth Fowler, Chairman, Twiggs County Board of Commissioners said. “We thank Senator Ossoff and his team for their partnership in delivering a new fire station to our area that will keep both our residents and brave volunteers safe.”

“It is great news for a neighboring fire department to receive much needed funding to either build or renovate fire stations that house lifesaving equipment,” Mike Davis, Bleckley County Commission Chair said. “We would like to thank Senator Ossoff for his efforts to help rural fire departments better serve their communities.”

Sen. Ossoff secured nearly $500,000 for the project with bipartisan support through last year’s government funding package.
