Tennille, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is strengthening health care for families in East and Central Georgia.
Today Sen. Ossoff announced he is delivering Federal funding for Community Health Care Systems to purchase new equipment for its 18 health clinics across Central and Eastern Georgia — in Macon-Bibb, Johnson, Washington, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Laurens, Jones, Telfair, Taliaferro, Jefferson, Warren, Hancock, Glascock and Baldwin Counties.
With the Federal funding, Community Health Care Systems plans to purchase barrier-free bariatric lift tables and wheelchair scales to mitigate the risk of falling and injury to patients and increase access to care in its clinics.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $132,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.
“I’m relentlessly focused on strengthening rural health care in Georgia. Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I’m appropriating funds to upgrade equipment and facilities at Community Health Care Systems’ clinics across Georgia,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank CEO Carla Belcher for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community.”
“Community Health Care Systems is grateful to U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff for his support and advocacy in securing this Federal funding for our health care system. With 18 locations across East and Central Georgia, we will use this Federal funding to equip each of our clinics with a bariatric lift exam table and wheelchair accessible scales, reducing barriers to care for families in the region. This new equipment will allow us to continue to provide high-quality primary health care while mitigating the risk of falling and injury while examining patients and taking their vitals, and we’re grateful for Senator Ossoff’s help in delivering these upgrades for our patients,” said Carla Belcher, CEO of Community Health Care Systems, Inc.
