Bipartisan JOBS Act would help more Georgia students access job training programs
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across the aisle to help more Georgia students afford higher education.
Sen. Ossoff is co-sponsoring the bipartisan JOBS Act to help more students access and afford job training programs.
The bipartisan bill would help students across Georgia that are already enrolled in high-quality short-term skills and job training programs access Pell Grants complete their education and workforce development programs.
Currently, Pell Grants can only be used for two- and four-year colleges and universities.
“I am working to bring Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to pass the bipartisan JOBS Act, which will allow young people and people who are mid-career in Georgia to apply for and receive Federal financial aid to access job training programs and prepare for their careers,” Sen. Ossoff said.
Sen. Ossoff continues to be a champion for Georgia students looking to enhance their professional careers by working to ensure they have the adequate resources to do so.
In 2024, Sen. Ossoff delivered Federal funding to strengthen workforce programs at the Automotive Training Center, which serves low-income, at-risk youth, and young adults ages 15-25 in metro Atlanta and offers students on-the-job training and experience in the automotive repair industry.
In 2022, Sen. Ossoff and Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04)’s bipartisan Cybersecurity Opportunity Actbecame law, which created the “Dr. David Satcher Cybersecurity Education Grant Program,” to expand cybersecurity training programs at HBCUs, tribal institutions, minority-serving institutions, and other colleges and universities that serve a high proportion of Pell Grant recipients.
