PHOTOS: Sen. Jon Ossoff Discusses COVID-19 Relief on Tour through Atlanta, Meets with Senior and Junior Enlisted Personnel at Fort Gordon

Atlanta, Ga. — This week, during the U.S. Senate recess, Senator Jon Ossoff met with Georgia constituents and key state leaders to hear how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted them and discuss relief efforts he is championing in Washington.

On Thursday, Sen. Ossoff visited Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta to see how the hospital has worked to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and serve the community. He toured one of the hospital’s vaccination sites, its OBGYN wing, and its world-renowned trauma center. He also met with hospital administration officials to discuss how he is working to deliver substantial funding to boost vaccination and testing efforts in Georgia.

Thursday afternoon, Sen. Ossoff toured the Atlanta Community Food Bank, which has distributed over 67 million meals to more than one million people estimated to be food insecure due to COVID-19 in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia. He also virtually met with leaders of the eight Feeding America food banks in Georgia to learn more about their work to defeat food insecurity and brief them on how he is working to deliver Georgia families economic relief in the upcoming COVID-19 relief bill.

Yesterday, Sen. Ossoff visited Fort Gordon in Augusta and met with both senior and junior enlisted personnel. He was briefed on the post’s infrastructure improvement projects and how they have worked to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also toured the state-of-the-art Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) and learned about their mission to forge and project power.
