U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) seeks a lawyer or recent law school graduate for a full-time, one-year Legal Fellowship beginning in August 2025. The Fellow will support the Senator’s policy work on issues in the Judiciary portfolio, including civil rights and liberties, government ethics, criminal justice, prison oversight, law enforcement, immigration, antitrust, and intellectual property. judicial and Department of Justice nominations. The Fellow will also support the Senator’s investigative work on human rights.

Primary responsibilities include legal research and writing; drafting legal memoranda and briefs, writing and editing oversight letters, interviewing issue stakeholders and eyewitnesses to human rights abuse; serving as a full team member in preparation for meetings and hearings; advising the Senator; and other duties as assigned. The Fellow will work closely with and report to the Senator’s Counsels.  

Candidates must be exceptionally strong writers, detail-oriented, self-starters, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in legislative and investigative work, such as working for an oversight committee or as a prosecutor, is a plus. Georgia ties preferred but not required. Candidates must possess a J.D. Fellows should plan to be based in or near Washington, D.C. This position is not paid, but the Office can coordinate with fellowship or external funding opportunities identified by potential Fellows.

Primary responsibilities include researching and writing legal memos and briefs, drafting and editing oversight letters, assisting staff with preparation for meetings and hearings, supporting staff with administrative assignments, and other duties as assigned. Law clerks will work closely with the Senator’s staff on all issues under the Committee’s jurisdiction. Candidates must be exceptionally strong writers, detail-oriented, self-starters, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in investigations, such as working for an oversight committee or as a prosecutor, is a plus. Georgia ties preferred but not required. Candidates must be current law students or recent law school graduates. This position is not paid, but the Office can coordinate with fellowship or external funding opportunities identified by potential clerks.

Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) seeks a part-time research associate to support his official office.  Interested candidates should have a strong work ethic, excellent writing and organizational skills, and be able to fulfill tasks under pressure and time constraints. Responsibilities include working with all departments to vet entities receiving grant funding, researching specific questions with a tight turnaround, and executing various research projects. This is a mid-level part-time position with a salary of $30,000 and additional benefits.

Primary responsibilities include managing incoming phone calls and voicemails, responding to constituent inquires and requests for assistance, liaising with federal agencies on behalf of constituents, and other administrative/office management tasks as assigned. Qualified candidates will be dependable, entrepreneurial, organized, and adept at multitasking. Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills a must; Georgia ties a plus. The starting annual salary for this position is $50,000 with eligibility for Senate benefits.

Duties include providing exceptional customer service and casework management to constituents, working with congressional liaisons at federal agencies to address and resolve a high volume of cases across Georgia. This position requires previous professional experience in customer service, social services, and/or casework. Qualified candidates will demonstrate knowledge, skills, and experience in customer service; excellent verbal and written communications skills; exceptional organization and project management; and the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Proficiency in Spanish (both written and verbal) is strongly preferred. The starting annual salary for this position is $55,000 with eligibility for Senate benefits.

Interning in the Office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff

The Office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff welcomes interested applicants to apply to our 10-week, semesterly internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent graduates, in both our Georgia and Washington, D.C. offices.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIPS

Internship opportunities are available in Senator Jon Ossoff’s Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, and Savannah offices. Interns will experience the legislative process firsthand and learn how the Senator and his staff engage with and serve the people of Georgia.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The internship program welcomes both full-time and part-time students enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, postgraduate colleges, as well as those attending community colleges, junior colleges, and recent graduates. We offer paid and unpaid internships. Interns who are unpaid can receive academic credit. Interns receiving a stipend must have a connection to the state of Georgia, meaning that they must be enrolled at a college or university in Georgia, or they must be Georgia natives attending a college or university outside the state.

As explained below, there are additional criteria for interns who will receive a paid stipend from the Office.

Interns in the Washington, D.C., office have the opportunity to work with the press, legislative, administrative and scheduling teams.

A typical day for D.C. interns may include answering phone calls from Georgians, assisting the Senator’s legislative staff with constituent correspondence, researching legislative issues, attending committee hearings, and giving tours of the Capitol.

Those interested in communications are invited to apply for a D.C. press and digital internship. A typical day for press and digital interns may include working with the press team to monitor media, assisting with press releases, helping prepare for interviews and press conferences, and creating posts and other digital products for the senator’s social media channels.

Interns in the Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, and Savannah offices will focus on constituent services and learn how we support the people of Georgia.

PAID STIPENDS

Senator Ossoff’s office is able to offer a limited number of paid stipends for Georgians applying for internships at his offices across Georgia and in Washington, D.C.

Please email internship@ossoff.senate.gov with the subject line “Stipend Application” and attach a two-page essay. In evaluating an applicant’s eligibility for a paid stipend, the Office will consider the individual’s financial need, and will give priority to applicants who are first-generation college students. 

In your essay, please draw upon your personal experience to answer the following question: “How will a paid internship better help you meet your educational or professional goals?” This stipend application is in addition to your internship application and will be evaluated separately.

The stipend application for Fall 2025 will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 1st.
