Bipartisan legislation will ensure survivors get their day in court and can make their voices heard
House passed bill last week, now goes to President Biden’s desk
Washington, D.C. — Today the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a landmark bipartisan bill to help Americans who have been targeted by workplace sexual assault and harassment secure justice.
Sen. Ossoff was a co-sponsor of the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act to end forced arbitration for survivors of sexual assault and harassment and give them the chance to bring their case to court.
Sen. Ossoff championed passage of the legislation and had been urging Senate leadership to bring it to a vote. He helped advance the legislation out of the Senate Judiciary Committee last fall.
“I championed this bill to ensure Georgians aren’t prevented by their employment contracts from seeking justice for workplace sexual assault and harassment,” Sen. Ossoff said.
According to The New York Times, “more than 60 million American workers are subject to forced arbitration clauses in their employment contracts — often through fine print tucked into legal clauses of which the employees are unaware.”
