READOUT: Sen. Ossoff Meets with South Korean Ambassador Lee Soo-hyuck 

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff met in Washington this morning with South Korean Ambassador to the United States Lee Soo-hyuck. 

Sen. Ossoff and Amb. Lee discussed today’s North Korean missile test, regional security in Northeast Asia, U.S.-South Korea cooperation, and Russian military aggression in Ukraine.  

Sen. Ossoff expressed his continued commitment to the U.S.-South Korea alliance.  

Earlier this month, Sen. Ossoff congratulated the Korean people on the successful conclusion of their presidential election.  

Sen. Ossoff met in November 2021 with President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol when Sen. Ossoff led an economic delegation to the Republic of Korea. 

Throughout his five-day visit, Sen. Ossoff met with key economic and government leaders to foster economic and cultural ties between the two nations. 

Georgia is a major destination for South Korean foreign direct investment, including major employers in strategic industries such as batteries, renewable energy, and cars, employing thousands of Georgians and representing billions of dollars of investment in the United States. 

Georgia is home to Hanwha Q Cells, the largest solar module manufacturing facility in the Western Hemisphere, the SK Innovation electric vehicle battery plant, and a Kia manufacturing plant.
