Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff played a key role to advance bipartisan voting rights legislation.
Last week, Sen. Ossoff voted in the U.S. Senate Rules Committee to advance the bipartisan Electoral College Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act, which would prevent partisan attempts to manipulate the counting of electoral votes for Presidential elections.
The bill passed out of Committee on a bipartisan basis, 14-1.
“Voting rights are fundamental. It is vital that every eligible vote be counted, and the will of the people be upheld,” Sen. Ossoff said. “This bipartisan bill aims to protect our democracy from partisan attempts to manipulate the counting of electoral votes.
Sen. Ossoff continues to lead on voting rights.
Sen. Ossoff’s leading legislation, the Right to Vote Act, would create a first-ever affirmative Federal voting rights guarantee for all U.S. citizens.
He has also introduced legislation to protect voters’ access to water at polling places and passionately spoke on the Senate floor urging his colleagues to pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021.
