Bryan County, Ga. — Following months of behind-the-scenes work by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, HyundaiMotor Company today formally announced a historic new electric vehicle and electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in Bryan County, Georgia.
According to Hyundai, the $5.54 billion investment will create roughly 8,100 jobs in Georgia.
Over the last year, Sen. Ossoff worked closely with Hyundai Chairman Euisun Chungand other Hyundaiofficials to urge further investment in Georgia and secure this deal, coming after he was widely credited for helping to negotiate a settlement between SK Innovation and LG last year that saved the $2.6 billion SK electric vehicle battery plant in Commerce, Georgia.
Sen. Ossoff led an economic delegation to Seoul last November with a goal of securing additional investment in Georgia. He met with Hyundai Chairman Euisun Chung and top officials, as well as other key Korean companies, including SK, LG, and Hanwha, which operates the Q Cells solar module manufacturing plant in Dalton, Georgia, to urge more Korean investment in the state.
“When I led an Economic Delegation to South Korea last fall, attracting Hyundai’s investment in Georgia was a key goal. This multibillion-dollar opportunity for Georgia will create thousands of jobs and grow Georgia’s reputation as a world leader in automotive and clean energy manufacturing,” Sen. Ossoff said.

According to Hyundai, the EV and battery manufacturing plant will be located on a dedicated 2,923-acre site in Bryan County Georgia, with immediate access to I-95 and I-16 highways, which creates easy access to 250 major metro areas.
The site is less than 50 kilometers from the Port of Savannah, the single-largest and fastest-growing container terminal in the U.S. with two Class I rail facilities on-site provided by Georgia Central Railway.
West Point, Georgia, is already home to Kia’s manufacturing hub in the U.S.
