$1.5 million for Brewton-Parker College will help expand nursing workforce development program
EDA investment will be matched with $1 million in local funds, expected to generate $1.4 million in private investment
Mount Vernon, Ga. — New resources to train more nurses are coming to Georgia thanks to U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock successfully secured bipartisan support in Congress to build a new instructional facility at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon to expand the college’s nursing workforce development program.
This workforce development investment from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will help create new growth opportunities for professionals in the health care sector.
“Senator Warnock and I are pleased to help deliver this investment in Georgia’s health care workforce to ensure Mount Vernon, Montgomery County, and Central Georgia’s residents can get great health care,” Sen. Ossoff said.
“Nurses play a critical role in keeping us healthy and keeping our health care system afloat,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “I’m proud to help secure this critical funding to address the nursing workforce shortage. This funding is part of my broader efforts to improve health care access for all Georgians, especially Georgians in rural parts of the state. I’ll continue to support workforce development for medical professionals, fight for federal resources for rural hospitals, and work to expand Medicaid.”

Sen. Ossoff continues working to expand Georgia’s healthcare workforce and ensure communities across the state have access to high quality care. Last year, Sen. Ossoff secured new resources to help train and keep more health care workers in the state.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock secured the $1.5 million for Brewton-Parker College with bipartisan support through last year’s government funding package.
