Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff met last week in Washington with Japanese Ambassador to the United States Shigeo Yamada.
During the meeting, Sen. Ossoff and Ambassador Yamada discussed opportunities to strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance, increase investment between Japan and the United States, and strengthen defense cooperation including in shipbuilding.
Sen. Ossoff and Ambassador Yamada also reviewed recent security developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
Japan is one of Georgia’s largest international investors, with Japanese businesses creating jobs and driving economic growth across the state. Georgia is home to over 20,000 Japanese Americans.
Sen. Ossoff continues to prioritize partnerships that bring economic benefits to Georgia while reinforcing strategic relationships that support U.S. national security.
