Sens. Marshall, Ossoff Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Help Farmers Transport Goods & Products

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across the aisle to cut red tape that makes it harder for Georgia farmers to transport products.

Today Sens. Ossoff (D-GA) and Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS) introduced the bipartisan Covered Farm Vehicle Modernization Act of 2021, which would cut red tape and make it easier for Georgia farmers to use personal trucks and vehicles to transport goods and products across state lines.

“This legislation will make it easier for our hard-working family farmers to transport their products and get them to market,” Sen. Ossoff said.

“America’s farmers and ranchers have some of the most difficult jobs in the world, and the last thing they need is more government red tape hindering their day-to-day operations,” said Sen. Marshall. “This bipartisan legislation removes out of date regulations to better reflect modern day farm vehicles, and ultimately allows folks to legally pull a gooseneck trailer with their pickup truck without jumping through hoops to obtain a for-hire commercial driving license.”

Sen. Ossoff continues to advocate for Georgia farmers.

Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff secured a commitment from U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to help Georgia farmers export more crops.

Sen. Ossoff also secured a commitment from a top Biden Administration nominee to work with him and Georgia pecan suppliers to export more of their products worldwide.
