Alma, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is continuing to support Georgia’s growing blueberry industry.
On Tuesday, Sen. Ossoff met with blueberry growers to hear directly from them on the unique challenges they face during blueberry processing.
As part of the visit, Sen. Ossoff inspected blueberry packing shed and orchard and held a roundtable with producers. According to the USDA, Georgia ranked third among blueberry producing states in 2020.
This week, Sen. Ossoff met with farmers and growers from key agricultural industries as Congress begins working on this year’s Farm Bill, key legislation reauthorized every five years that includes key programs, such as agricultural research, crop insurance, commodity pricing, and more.
Last year, Sens. Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock helped secure a boost in disaster assistance for farmers, ensuring they have access to the resources necessary to protect them following natural disasters.
