READOUT: Sen. Ossoff Meets with USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Presses for Continued Improvements

Washington, D.C. — This afternoon, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff met in Washington, D.C. with USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to continue pressing for improved mail delivery service for Georgia families and businesses.

For months, Sen. Ossoff has remained focused on applying maximum pressure on USPS leadership and conducting vigorous oversight of the USPS to resolve challenges Georgia families and businesses continue facing following the failed rollout of the new Palmetto Regional Processing and Distribution Center earlier this year.

During the in-person meeting, Sen. Ossoff reiterated with DeJoy the need for further improvements to solve delays as he continues to hear from impacted Georgia families, businesses, veterans, and more, emphasizing that while data has shown improvement, there is still more needed.

Sen. Ossoff also expressed during the meeting his expectation that DeJoy be maximally responsive to his and Georgians’ questions.

“For months I have sustained relentless pressure on USPS management to fully resolve disastrous performance failures impacting my constituents in Georgia. I’m still hearing from Georgia families and businesses about the difficulty they continue to face sending and receiving their mail, which is why I met today with Postmaster General DeJoy to again reiterate the need for further improvements and greater transparency. I will not rest until my constituents are well and fully served by the U.S. Postal Service,” Sen. Ossoff said in a new statement after the meeting.

During the meeting, DeJoy presented Sen. Ossoff with the latest USPS on-time delivery statistics.
