Sen. Ossoff Commends Blind Squirrel Nut Company Owner

Warner Robins, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is recognizing Blind Squirrel Nut Company founder Zachary Horton for his inspiring perseverance and determination with an Official U.S. Senate Commendation.

In March of 2013, just 7 months out of college, Horton was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, causing him to go blind. Due to complications, he later went into a coma for nearly two years, but miraculously woke up on Christmas Day in 2014.

Despite the many obstacles thrown his way, Horton went on to found the Blind Squirrel Nut Company in Warner Robins, Georgia, which sells a variety of Georgia-grown pecans.

Please find Sen. Ossoff’s Official U.S. Senate Commendation to Blind Squirrel Nut Company Owner Zachary Horton below:

“Mr. Horton’s story is one of optimism and resilience that demonstrates that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

“The Blind Squirrel Company was born out of Zachary’s entrepreneurial spirit after he was diagnosed with a medical condition that caused him to lose his vision. Nevertheless, Mr. Horton’s confidence in himself and his determination empowered him to launch a pecan business that has been serving customers across middle Georgia for over a year.

“Mr. Horton’s success owning and operating his own business despite losing his vision demonstrates that no obstacle is too high to overcome if you work hard and never give up. The Blind Squirrel Company also offers a variety of products to customers nationwide, giving Americans across the country a taste of Georgia’s unique pecans.

“Mr. President, as Georgia’s U.S. Senator, I recognize and commend Mr. Zachary Horton as a champion who against all odds has been able to fulfill his greatest dream thanks to his perseverance, passion and hope.”
