Nashville, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is strengthening health care for Berrien County families.
Today, Sen. Ossoff announced he is delivering Federal funding to help construct a new, modern, 9 room Emergency Room at SGMC Health Berrien. The funding will help more than double the current size of the emergency department by increasing the current 3-room ED to a 9-bed ED, helping meet the current patient volume demand. According to SGMC Health, the state-of-the-art emergency room is scheduled to open this fall.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $1,871,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.
“I’ve appropriated funds to build a new emergency department at SGMC Health Berrien. It’s vital that families across Berrien County and South Georgia can get the health care they need,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank SGMC Health President and CEO Ronnie Dean and Board Chairman Sam Allen for bringing this proposal to my office and for their leadership in the community.”
