Sen. Ossoff Delivering Resources to Expand Financial Assistance to Service Workers

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new federal resources to expand financial assistance to food service workers.

Today Sen. Ossoff announced new funding to expand outreach and assistance for Georgia’s food service workers facing financial hardship. This funding will provide financial assistance to Georgia food service workers based on financial need due to injury, illness, death of an immediate family member, or disaster, like flood or fire.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $250,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.

“Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I’ve appropriated funds to help Georgia’s hard-working food service workers. I thank Giving Kitchen Founder Jen Hidinger-Kendrick for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community,” Sen. Ossoff said.

“Giving Kitchen is committed to offering dignity, stability, and opportunity to food service workers,” said Jen Hidinger-Kendrick, Giving Kitchen founder. “Through this vital funding, we will be able to continue to offer our financial assistance and resources to more Georgians who work in restaurants, cafeterias, concessions, food trucks, bars, taprooms, and coffee shops. By helping them in their time of need, we can keep the lights on and shelter over the heads of these important members of our community and their children. We are deeply grateful to Senator Ossoff for delivering these funds to Giving Kitchen as he joins us in offering hope to our fellow Georgians.”

Giving Kitchen (GK) is a national nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance to food service workers through financial support and a network of community resources.
