Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to build new playgrounds for Metro Atlanta families.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering funding to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta to help renovate the play spaces at the Andrew and Walter Young Family Y on Campbellton Road SW; the East Lake Family Y Teen and Youth Center on Eva Davis Way SE; and the Arthur Blank Family Youth Y on Luckie St NW.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $606,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.
“Georgia kids need safe places to play. That’s why I brought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade YMCAs in Metro Atlanta to ensure families can benefit from their great programs,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank YMCA of Metro Atlanta Board Chair Jeff Beckham, President & CEO Lauren Koontz, and the entire team for bringing this proposal to my office and for their service to the community.”
“At the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, we believe in the transformative power of play. It’s more than just recreation; it’s about creating spaces where children can learn, grow, and thrive,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “We are grateful for Senator Ossoff’s commitment to investing in equitable play spaces that will benefit all youth. This funding will enable us to expand our efforts in providing safe and inclusive environments where children can develop important skills, build friendships, and experience the joy of play. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the well-being of our children and the vitality of our communities.”
