Sen. Ossoff Hosts VFW Georgia & Reaffirms His Commitment to Georgia’s Veterans

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff this week hosted representatives from the Georgia Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to discuss his continued support for Georgia veterans and their families.

Sen. Ossoff heard directly from the VFW representatives about key issues facing veterans in Georgia, including the need to improve suicide prevention efforts to passing legislation to improving benefits for servicemembers injured in combat.

Sen. Ossoff briefed the group on his bipartisan work in the Senate to support Georgia’s veterans. Last year, Sen. Ossoff passed into law bipartisan legislation to help Georgia veterans access their service benefits and make mental health care more affordable, and successfully strengthened programs to help veterans in rural areas get the health care they need.

Sen. Ossoff also briefed the leaders on his continued work to pass the bipartisan Major Richard Star Act, bipartisan legislation he is championing to ensure combat-disabled veterans get full benefits.
