Kings Bay, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering key upgrades for Georgia’s Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base.
Sen. Ossoff helped pass a key provision through this year’s National Defense Authorization Act with Republican and Democratic support to authorize electrical grid improvements at NSB Kings Bay.
The upgrades are a key part of ongoing infrastructure projects to prepare for the arrival of the Columbia Class Submarines, which is expected as early as 2027.
“I have helped to pass through the Senate significant infrastructure upgrades to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay that will ensure the facility is well-positioned to accept the new Columbia class submarines that are coming to the base,” Sen. Ossoff said. “This was a top priority for me to make sure we are investing in Kings Bay to prepare it for the equipment and missions that are coming.”
Last year, Sen. Ossoff also secured authorization for a new Regional Maintenance Facility and Trident Training Facility Columbia Trainer Expansion at NSB Kings Bay through last year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
Sen. Ossoff previously met with Kings Bay leadership and junior enlisted personnel in his first few months in office.
