Washington, D.C. — Tomorrow, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff will welcome Pedro Cherry, 2024 Chair of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, to Washington as his guest to the State of the Union.
Cherry currently serves as the President and CEO of Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas. In this role, Cherry oversees all aspects of operations for the two southern region natural gas utilities, which serve approximately 1.7 million customers in two states.
This January, Cherry was sworn in as the 2024 Georgia Chamber of Commerce Chair. He previously served as Vice Chair in 2023.

Ossoff. “I am grateful to Georgia’s business community for their vital contributions to prosperity and opportunity in our state, and for their continuous engagement as we implement manufacturing and infrastructure policies that are driving record investments to Georgia.”

Formerly executive vice president of Customer Service and Operations (CSO) for Georgia Power, Cherry led 5,000-plus employees in the CSO organization with responsibility for the company’s customer service efforts, power delivery, sales, pricing and planning, regional external affairs, renewable development and corporate services. Named to the role in February 2017, Cherry was responsible for operating and maintaining an electric system serving 2.6 million customers in all but four of Georgia’s 159 counties.
Last year, Sen. Ossoff addressed the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Congressional Luncheon in Athens, Georgia, where he called for bipartisan cooperation to advance Georgia’s economic development and discussed Federal infrastructure and manufacturing policies that are fueling business investment and job creation statewide.
