Washington, D.C. –– U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to bring more doctors to rural Georgia.
As part of his efforts to expand health care access to Georgians, Sen. Ossoff is pushing to pass the Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2021 to address the scarcity of qualified medical professionals in rural communities across Georgia.
“I’m working to bring more doctors to the rural parts of our state so every Georgian, no matter where they live, has access to care,” said Sen. Ossoff.
The Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2021 would increase the number of Medicare-subsidized residency slots, with a focus on hospitals in rural areas.
More than half of Georgia’s counties are designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration as “health professional shortage areas.”
