Sen. Ossoff Working to Help Georgians Access Job Opportunities

Sen. Ossoff working to reopen the Atlanta Job Corps Center that closed in 2017, fund repairs at other centers

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to help Georgians access greater job opportunities.

In a letter to Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Chair Senator Patty Murray, Sen. Ossoff urged passage of robust funding to support Job Corps Centers across the country and the state of Georgia.

He also stressed the need to reopen Atlanta’s Jobs Corps Center, which closed in 2017.

Job Corps Centers help Georgians find employment, housing, child care, and transportation. The centers then help graduates enter the workforce, apprenticeship programs, the military, or pursue higher education.

“I write to express my support for robust funding for the Job Corps – specifically robust funding for construction, rehabilitation, and acquisition (CRA) of Job Corps centers,” Sen. Ossoff wrote. “Funding for Job Corps centers is especially important to the Metro Atlanta region, which has lacked a center since 2017.”
