Decatur, Ga. — U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock, alongside Congressman Hank Johnson, today announced bipartisan infrastructure law funding to build more electric vehicle chargers in DeKalb County.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. Johnson are delivering Federal resources through the bipartisan infrastructure law’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program to build more EV chargers for Georgia drivers.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. Johnson are delivering $2.8 million to the DeKalb County Government, which plans to install new EV charging stations across DeKalb County.
“I’m pleased to deliver this investment through the bipartisan infrastructure law alongside Senator Reverend Warnock and Congressman Johnson to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure in DeKalb County. Every day, the bipartisan infrastructure law is upgrading transportation, energy, sewer and water, and broadband internet across our great state,” said Sen. Ossoff.
“Georgia is on the frontlines of our nation’s clean energy economy thanks in part to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law I was proud to champion,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “This latest investment will help more Georgians around our state find charging ports when and where users need them. I believe we are called to be good stewards of our planet and its resources, and I will continue to do all I can in the U.S. Senate to support common sense solutions that will benefit both our ecology and our economy.”
“This investment in DeKalb County’s electric vehicle infrastructure is a game-changer for our community,” said Congressman Johnson (GA-04), who provided a letter of support for DeKalb County’s grant application. “Not only will it help combat climate change and improve air quality, but it also ensures that all residents – including those in underserved areas – benefit from the transition to a clean energy future. I’m proud to have supported this effort to secure critical resources for our district.”
“This investment in Dekalb county is a transformative step toward positioning DeKalb as a leader in sustainable transportation and development in the region,” said DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. “We are deeply grateful to Senators Ossoff and Warnock and Congressman Johnson for championing this critical investment through the bipartisan infrastructure law. By expanding our electric vehicle charging infrastructure, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also ensuring that communities throughout DeKalb benefits from cleaner air, economic growth, and a more sustainable future.”
Sen. Ossoff continues delivering Federal resources through the bipartisan infrastructure law to strengthen Georgia’s infrastructure.
Last year, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. Nikema Williams (GA-05) delivered $11.8 million to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to install a DC Fast Charging Hub for rental car companies, ride-share drivers, airport shuttles for hotels, employees, the City of Atlanta’s growing EV light to heavy-duty fleets, as well as regional and local EV drivers coming to the airport or driving along the nearby major highway systems.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Rep. Sanford Bishop also delivered $15 million to the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, which plans to install publicly available EV chargers across Middle Georgia.
