Washington, D.C. — In a new video message, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is commemorating the second anniversary of the Atlanta Spa Shootings.
Sen. Ossoff paid tribute to the Georgians who were murdered on March 16, 2021, their families, and the entire Asian American community.
“To all Asian Americans in Georgia, please know that I am here to serve you, and I stand with you in defiance of hatred and bigotry and intimidation,” Sen. Ossoff said.
Last year, Sen. Ossoff launched an inquiry urging FBI Director Christopher Wray to ensure all communities have access to the information and guidance the FBI disseminates by providing increased access to multilingual resources.
In 2022, during a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Ossoff asked the FBI Director to ensure the agency is providing information and services in multiple languages to protect the health and security of all communities in Georgia.
In 2021, in response to the Atlanta Spa Shootings, Sen. Ossoff helped pass the bipartisan COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which strengthened Department of Justice enforcement of COVID-19-related hate crimes against Asian Americans.
