Meeting included senior executives at Japanese companies with major facilities in Georgia

Washington, D.C. — Last night, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff met with key U.S.-Japan business leaders in Georgia at a dinner hosted by the Consul General of Japan in Atlanta.
Sen. Ossoff met with the Chief Executive Director of the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) and senior executives who manage Georgia-based presences of Kubota, Murata Electronics, Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC, Nichiha, TOTO, Yamaha, and YKK. Japanese Consul General, Kazuyuki Takeuchi was also in attendance.
Sen. Ossoff and attendees discussed opportunities to strengthen commercial relations between Georgia and Japan. Sen. Ossoff encouraged the businesses represented at the meeting to invest in new facilities and opportunities in Georgia.
According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, there are more than 343 Japanese facilities operating in Georgia, employing approximately 30,000 Georgians.
Sen. Ossoff continues his efforts to support international commerce that benefits Georgia and to strengthen the vital U.S.-Japan alliance.
Last month, Sen. Ossoff met with the Ambassador of Japan to the United States, Koji Tomita, to discuss opportunities for the two countries to deepen their ties and cooperation.
