Sen. Ossoff Commends Co-Founders of Columbus “Grannies on Guard”

Columbus, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is recognizing Grannies on Guard for their service to the community with an Official U.S. Senate Commendation.

Co-founded in 2021 by Tonza Thomas and Rasheeda Ali, who lost her grandson Jaleel Rasheed Ali to gun violence, Grannies on Guard has worked tirelessly to create a positive community environment for children ages 12 and under.

Grannies on Guard helps provide an alternative to gangs and violence through monthly meetings and community events at no cost to families.

“As Georgia’s U.S. Senator, I commend Rasheeda Ali, Tonza Thomas, and the Grannies on Guard team for their work in the Columbus community and for their commitment to our children,” Sen. Ossoff said.
