Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to expand mental health care services for military families and veterans.
Today, Sens. Ossoff and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) introduced the bipartisan Military Families Mental Health Services Act to help military families access vital mental health care services.
The bipartisan bill will waive out-of-pocket costs for military families and veterans on TRICARE fortheir first three outpatient mental health visits per year, empowering them to receive the treatment they need.
“Our bipartisan bill will expand free access to counseling and mental health services for servicemembers and their families, who make great sacrifices for our nation, endure great stress in so doing, and deserve nothing less than the care they need when they need it,” Sen. Ossoff said.
“Providing mental health resources for veterans and servicemembers who bravely serve and sacrifice for our country must be a top priority for Congress. Our bill expanding mental health services will provide more accessible resources for North Dakota military families and veterans to ensure they get the care they need,” said Sen. Cramer.
This is the latest in Sen. Ossoff’s work to ensure our nation’s veterans and military families receive the care they need and deserve.
Last year, Sen. Ossoff pushed to pass the bipartisan REACH for Veterans Act, which would improve a 24/7 suicide prevention hotline for veterans in need.
Sen. Ossoff also called on Congress to pass the bipartisan Save Our Servicemembers Act, legislation to make mental health services more accessible to military personnel in Georgia.
This month, Sen. Ossoff is working to expand VA health care for veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during their service.
