Sen. Ossoff Helping Upgrade Rockdale County Water Infrastructure

Conyers, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to upgrade water infrastructure in Rockdale County.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering new resources to help replace the county’s 50-year-old water pump station, which, according to local officials, often floods during storms. The new water pump station will reduce flooding events and improve quality of life for Rockdale County families.

According to local officials, a new pump station will also significantly cut down on the number of bacteria being discharged to the Snapping Shoals Creek.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $959,752 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04).

“Too many families in Rockdale County experience floods during storms, threatening property and small businesses. Working alongside Congressman Hank Johnson, we brought Republicans and Democrats together to help upgrade water infrastructure to prevent flooding and upgrade quality of life for families,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr. for bringing this proposal to my office and for his leadership in the community.”

“We express our deepest appreciation to Senator Ossoff for hearing our need and securing funding to aid in upgrading our pump station,” Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr. said. “It is imperative that we have adequate infrastructure, and we are pleased that we can upgrade the system to improve its environmental impact on Snapping Shoals Creek and sustain us for years to come. Our main focus is the people, and we want to continue improving the quality of life for our residents in the area as well as across all of Rockdale County.”
