Sen. Ossoff Slams Trump Administration’s Cancellation of Fresh Food in Schools Program

Washington D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement after the Trump Administration canceled a program that helps Georgia farmers sell fresh food to local schools.

“This will hurt Georgia kids and Georgia farmers.

“We should support our schools providing kids with fresh, nutritious food grown locally by Georgia farmers. It’s a win-win for childhood nutrition and Georgia agriculture.

“I urge the Trump Administration to reverse course.”

In 2023, Sen. Ossoff announced the $7.1 million partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and State of Georgia to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables for schools across the state, helping Georgia kids access fresh produce grown by Georgia farmers.
