Sen. Ossoff Statement on Bipartisan Action to Prevent Gun Violence

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff tonight released the following statement:

“I know there is no worse nightmare for Georgia parents than the death of a child to gun violence. For parents who fear for their children at school, for Americans threatened by abusive partners, for neighborhoods suffering from violent crime, Congress is finally taking action to protect our schools, our workplaces, and our communities.

“The bipartisan legislation we passed tonight will save lives by cracking down on illegal gun trafficking, by strengthening background checks, by keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and by strengthening mental health care programs.

“I thank Sens. Murphy, Cornyn, Sinema, and Tillis for their leadership, and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for uniting to pass this important bill.”
