Sen. Ossoff Statement on Death of U.S. Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans

Atlanta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement after U.S. Capitol Police Officer William “Billy” Evans was killed in the line of duty today defending the U.S. Capitol:

“Tonight I honor and grieve Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans, killed earlier today in the line of duty defending the United States Capitol. My heart is with Officer Evans’ family, colleagues, and friends.

“Members of Congress and the American people owe a great debt to the men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police, who daily put their lives on the line to defend representative government and the Constitutional processes that ensure our laws reflect the will of the people.

“Officer Evans will never be forgotten, and his sacrifice defending our nation is worthy of the highest honors.

“I pray for the full recovery of another officer who was injured, and for the well-being and healing of the entire force.”
