Sen. Ossoff Statement on Passing of Jerry “Pops” Barnes

Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff issued the following statement:

“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Councilor Jerry “Pops” Barnes and send my deepest condolences to his wife Jannie, his children and grandchildren, and the Columbus community.

“A U.S. Army veteran, Pops Barnes served our country and our state with excellence, including 20 years on the Columbus City Council, where he worked to improve care for veterans and strengthen mental health services.

“May his memory be a blessing.”
