Washington, D.C. –– U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to ensure veterans have the mental health care they deserve.
Sen. Ossoff is working to pass the bipartisan REACH for Veterans Act to improve the Veterans Crisis Line, a 24/7 suicide prevention hotline for military veterans.
The bill would ensure staff are trained and the right processes are in place to respond to veteran callers at high risk of suicide.
“All veterans deserve responsive and qualified mental health services, especially during a crisis. I will continue working with Democratic and Republican colleagues to improve the Veterans Crisis Line,” said Sen. Ossoff.
Sen. Ossoff is also working to pass legislation to reduce veteran homelessness and deliver combat-disabled veterans the pay they deserve.
The Veterans Crisis Line offers free, confidential support to veterans 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Veterans in crisis can call 1-800-273-8255 and press 1, visit VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat to chat online, or text 838255.
