Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock Announce Application Process for Impending Vacancy on U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff, a member of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, and Reverend Raphael Warnock today announced the application process for the impending vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Last week, U.S. District Court Judge Steve C. Jones of the Northern District of Georgia announced he would take senior status as of January 1, 2025. To fill the impending vacancy, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock will jointly accept applications for the position before the Senators make their final recommendations to President Biden.

In 2021, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock recommended nominees to President Biden for two United States District Court positions — Victoria Marie Calvert and Sarah Elisabeth Geraghty — and one United States Attorney position — Ryan K. Buchanan — all of whom were nominated by the President and later confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Applications for the U.S. District Court Judge position can be found here and will be accepted until Monday, June 3, at 5 p.m. ET.
